Thanks to your support, our local partners in Bangladesh can provide training to people like Minara to help them thrive.
Despite the challenges she faced, Minara never gave up. As the eldest of six children in northern Bangladesh, Minara always dreamed of a better life. During childbirth, she developed tetanus that left her physically disabled. After five days she lost her baby. She was abandoned by her husband, so she returned to her father, Anwar, who already struggling taking care of her other siblings.
Being determined, Minara found a path forward. She joined a programme run by our local experts for people with disabilities, where she received training and a small grant to start raising goats. With determination and her own savings, she began her first small business.
Minara said: “We are three disabled sisters, but we were never involved in earning before. Now, using the skills and knowledge from the Proyash project (CAFOD’s local church partner), we have created multiple income sources.”
It was a small step, but for Minara, it meant hope for her future. She didn't let her disabilities hold her back from helping her family build a better future.
