In today's psalm, we sing of God's mercy and faithfulness and pray to learn God’s ways.
As we approach the end of this season of Advent, it is perhaps a good time to reflect on the path we are on. Who are we journeying with? Are there ways we can learn to tread more lightly on the earth and live in greater harmony with our world and with each other? Do we need to change course?
In a world too often full of division, injustice and greed, God calls us to a different path: one marked by compassion, generosity, and forgiveness.
In Ukraine, millions of people have fled their homes since the start of the conflict. However, many older people and those with disabilities, unable to leave, now find themselves isolated and struggling to get food and other necessities.
CAFOD supported Depaul Ukraine to organise a team of brilliant and brave bicycle volunteers who delivered regular food baskets to people's homes. The cycling team's efforts meant vital food baskets could reach 700 people on a regular basis, until new distribution systems could be put in place.
The project was set up by Father Vitaliy, who reflected “that love is inventive, until infinity.”
God of the journey,
may we go guided by your grace,
learning to walk in your way
and sharing our gifts
creatively and generously.
Amen
