Organise a walk in your community and join hundreds of people around the country in supporting families who are working to overcome poverty.

Thanks to supporters like you, Shorai is now able to grow food for his family in a solar-powered, water-saving eco-garden.
“Let us press on to know the Lord; his going out is sure as the dawn; he will come to us as the showers, as the spring rains that water the earth.”
The prophet Hosea offers a beautiful picture of the Lord nourishing his people, just as the spring rains soak into the parched earth. It is a vision of a God who is very close, who refreshes and renews Israel, bringing hope and vitality.
This image would surely speak to Shorai, a farmer in Zimbabwe. In 2024, the government declared a national disaster due to a severe drought caused by the El Niño climate phenomenon. Shorai recalls:
“We were hit by El Niño and we didn’t even have grains or anything, we had no harvest... In this community we rely on rain-fed agriculture. And our agriculture is mainly subsistence, meaning it’s for family consumption. So, if you fail to harvest, it means that we will be cracking our heads on hard ground to feed our families.”
This Lent, let us press on to know the Lord, seeking his presence that falls on us like the gentle spring rain. Refreshed by God’s love, may we seek to bring new life and hope through the love we show for all our global neighbours.
Prayer
God of blessings,
rain down righteousness,
shower us with compassion,
deepen our love for you,
and all our global family.
Amen.
